Does over grip affect/ruin the original grip on a tennis racquet?
I had ordered a new Head Metallix 2 and I also order 3 over grips. I mostly got them to protect the original grip. But does the over grip ruin the grip underneath? Does it? lol thanks people.
no, the over grip does not ruin the original grip or the grip underneath. over grips are used to either make the grip bigger or to give people a fresh grip.
over grips are designed to have a little bit of adhesive so they stay in place but wont damage the grip underneath.
if you find your original grip is fine in size, you should just play with that till it gets worn. once the rubber of the original grip loses its tackiness or you find yourself slipping the racket, you should use an over grip.
and once the over grip is worn out, just remove it and put on a new one.
that's how over grips should usually be used.
don't worry about ruining the original grip, the point of having the grip there is to be used. once its worn out, that's when the over grip comes in play.
