Graphite Pull Shaft
Are my golf clubs too long ?
I have a 38" wrist to floor measurement and I just bought a set of cobra fp irons with graphite shafts. I had the store add an extra +1" to the shaft, now it seems like i hook and pull alot of my shots. I was told that I didn't need the extra inch because graphite shafted irons are already an inch longer than steel shafts to compensate for the swing weight. should I shorten the shafts back to standard or am I just swinging poorly to begin with. I am also thinking of getting an extra set of steel shafted irons for my son who also has a 38" wrist to floor, should I have them lengthened by 1" 0r 2" ???? Please help.
I prefer fitting dynamically. Take a piece of tape and put it on the sole of your club. Hit a few balls off of a lie board and take a look at the marks left on the sole tape. If they're near the middle, you should be ok. If they're near the heel or toe, you'll want to look at your lie angles. One way lie angles can be changed is by shortening or lengthening the club. I'd take the clubs back to the shop that you bought them from and get them to have another look.
