Why do people say that winning the Presidents Trohy is a curse?
In the 21-year history of the President's trophy, the winner has gone on to win the Cup 6 out of 21 times. Compare that to finishing lower in the NHL playoffs, and here's the breadown
Reg. season finish in the whole NHL in one column, and number of Cups in the past 20 years in the other column
1st- 6 Cups
2nd- 2 Cups

I think finishing 11th in the NHL is a curse. Think about it...the #11 team in the NHL always seems to find a way to lose in the playoffs.
Or maybe we could realize that there is nothing statistically fantastic about the best single team losing in a sixteen-team tournament. It's hockey, not basketball, and the NHL is far more upset prone than the NBA or the NFL. But in reality, finishing #1 in the standings gives you the best chance of winning.
First, TFoley, back up your idiocy with facts. The Bills have nothing to do with the President's Trophy, so thats as relevant as...well, due to language restrictions, I can't exactly say. And the considering the Sabres have made the ECF the last 2 years, I'd say they are really one or two pieces of the puzzle away from winning it all (a power forward with scoring ability and a defensive defensman or 2).
As for the President's Trophy, a team has to falter somewhere during the season. And having the best overall record in the league means you have played well more than you haven't. Also, teams can get hot coming into the playoffs, especially if they had to fight to get in, giving them what amounts to an early start to the playoffs.
